Emily Aleksy, LCSW, PMH-C (she/her)
Clinic Director & Psychotherapist
Hiiiiiii. Emily here. Nice to meet you. I’m glad you’re here.
Usually by the time you’ve gotten to this page, you’ve been hurting for a long time and you’re really ready to heal. It can be really freaking hard to find a therapist you think you’ll click with, and even harder to actually take that step to reach out to someone. But it’s even harder still for things to stay the way they are in your life right now. You need someone that gets it. You need someone who can help you move forward and truly start healing and feeling better than you do right now.
I built ERA to do just that. And although I’m no longer seeing individual clients, we have a great team of therapists to help you heal in the way you need to.
What I’m like:
I’m a wife and mom to three kiddos, so I get the parenting thing and how tough that can be to juggle with the rest of your life. I like meditation, coffee, inspirational quotes and swearing. I’d consider myself half-crunchy. I dislike seafood and rude people. I have a giant orange cat named Twinkie. I’m empathetic and honest and have lots of facial expressions. I use humor and, yes, sometimes swearing in my sessions. I truly feel like therapy is what I’m meant to do in this world. It’s important to me that you get what you need and get back to feeling some peace and enjoyment in your life, and I’m honored to be a part of that journey for you in whatever way I am.
I became a therapist because I love hearing people's stories, and I think mental health is fascinating. It impacts literally everything we do!
I’m inspired by people who are doing their best in some really hard situations. Best doesn't mean you're doing it awesomely, just that you're still showing up to life.
I also utilize mindfulness and meditation, as well as addressing lifestyle changes - in a way that is realistic and non-judgmental. Two of the most important pieces of therapy are working with someone that feels right for you, and experiencing therapy in a way that works for your life right now. We’re big on both of those here at ERA.
My training and education:
I am trained in Brainspotting (phases 1 and 2) and am working on formal certification. I also have perinatal specific training & certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International. I’m the chair of our State Chapter and help lead an annual fundraising event called the Climb Out of the Darkness. I’m also a trained facilitator for the Bringing Baby Home program from the Gottman Institute (another super cool organization, check them out too! I LOVE their Marriage Minute emails).
I got my bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison (Go Badgers!) and my master’s degree in social work from Loyola University Chicago. I do my own personal mindfulness work and am committed to anti-racism and social justice.
Emily is now offering clinicial supervision to pre-licensed clinicians, as well as case consultation in the area of perinatal mental health and private practice building consultation and mentorship.
She is available for presentation and educational opportunities such as private Lunch & Learn events, conference presentations, and staff training.
